Occupational therapy License in North Carolina-
Occupational therapist and Occupational therapy Assistants are required to get a license from the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT).
The minimum requirements for the license are –
- Entry-level master degree or OTD degree
- NBCOT exam’s passing certificate.
- Application fees of $100.
Temporary OT/OTA License:
No temporary license is given by the NCBOT to practice as an occupational therapist (OT) or as an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) in North Carolina.

The OT program at Cabarrus College is designed specifically for experienced OTA’s to become an occupational therapist (OT).
The OT program will have two tracks:
- The MOT track for OTA’s already with a bachelor’s degree.
- The BSIHS/MOT track for OTA’s with an associate degree as their highest educational level.
The OT school offers a hybrid course, which has a 3-hour on-campus class every third weekend. In the hybrid course, the classes are on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Occupational therapy school was started at the ECU in 1974. The school follows the guidelines established by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
