Occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants are required to obtain a license from the Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy (ASBOT).
Satisfactory completion of both the academic program and fieldwork required qualifying to take the NBCOT certification exam and a license offered by the Alabama Board of Occupational Therapy. Successful completion of the licensure test allows graduates to practice the profession in Alabama.

Temporary OT/OTA License:
A temporary license to practice as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) may be granted to those who have met the educational and experience requirements for the license and are waiting to take or receive the results of the certification examination.
This permit will allow the person to practice occupational therapy under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist of the state of Alabama. The license will be valid until the results of the qualifying examination have been made public. This limited permit will not be renewed if the applicant has failed in the examination.

#2 Occupational therapy school at Tuskegee University
The School of Nursing and Allied Health (SONAH) offers an M.S degree in Occupational Therapy. The OT program was established in 1978 and celebrated 40 years of quality education.
Tuskegee University offers a Master of Science program (3 + 2 years). For students entering as a freshman, 3 years of undergraduate course work (pre-professional phase) are required and 2 years of graduate course work (professional phase). In the third year of the pre-professional phase, students must apply in the graduate phase of the program. The pre-professional stage is a foundation course that develops the knowledge base required for the professional program. The University of Alabama’s Occupational Therapy program is 25th in the nation as ranked by U.S. News and World Report and 22nd in the country in GraduatePrograms.com’s “Top Occupational Therapy Schools according to Student Reviews.”
The Occupational therapy school provides an entry-level master of occupational therapy degree. Plus, the OT school also provides a fast track course in occupational therapy. #4 University of South Alabama
Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions offers an entry-level M.S degree in occupational therapy. The OT program was established in 1993 and celebrating 25 years of quality education.
The course is divided into 7 semesters (includes full-time Level II Fieldwork). The OT program has a maximum student capacity of 30 and most students pass in the first attempt with a overall graduation rate of 90–100%.
The Department of Occupational Therapy also offers a one-year degree of Master of Rehabilitation Science in Occupational Therapy (RSOT). This program is aimed at providing strong practical learning experiences to future practitioners. Remember that this degree is not eligible for the license exam in the United States.
