Occupational Therapy in New York-
The occupational therapist (OT), Occupational therapy assistant (OTA) and OT/OTA students have their own state association, i.e. NYSOTA (New York State Occupational Therapy Association).
The NYSOTA is a non-profit volunteer organization which provides a professional community for its members. The NYSOTA is a state-based professional organization for the occupational therapy profession in New York.

Occupational Therapy Assistance License in New York-

A person with a temporary permit may only practice occupational therapy assisting under the direct supervision of a New York certified occupational therapist or physician and may practice only in a public, voluntary, or proprietary hospital, or health care agency, or in a preschool or elementary school as a related service for a handicapped child. The limited permit is valid for one year. A limited permit may be renewed once. The fee for a limited permit as an occupational therapy assistant is $70.

The LaGuardia Community College is a part of the CUNY (City University of New York) system. The OTA School at LCC offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational therapy Assistant. LaGuardia’s OTA program has existed since 1973. It is the only one within the CUNY system. Academic courses are offered both during the day and the extended day (evenings and/or Saturdays) sessions. The OTA program at Mercy College can be tailored according to the personal needs. The OTA program can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis. The classes are held on Monday – Thursday evenings.
